Common problems and solutions of Four-column Hydraulic Press

As an important industrial equipment, the four column hydraulic press plays a crucial role in various fields such as metal forming and material testing. However, during use, hydraulic presses may experience various malfunctions that can affect the normal operation and production efficiency of the equipment.Below are the common problems&solutions that we may meet during the use of the Four column Hydraulic Press.


1.Slide crawling problem

Problem description: The slider experiences crawling during operation, resulting in a decrease in machining accuracy.

Solutions:

Check the guide rail: Wear or poor lubrication of the guide rail may cause the slider to crawl. Regularly inspect and replace the guide rail to ensure that the guide rail surface is flat and smooth, and maintain sufficient lubrication.

Adjusting the hydraulic system: Unstable hydraulic system pressure or insufficient oil supply may also cause the slider to crawl. Adjust the hydraulic system pressure to ensure sufficient oil supply and stable pressure.

Clean the slider and guide rail: Impurities on the slider and guide rail may cause crawling. Regularly clean the slider and guide rail to maintain cleanliness.

Accumulation of air at the system or pump inlet: Check the suction pipe, then run it up and down and repeatedly apply pressure


2.The pointer of the pressure gauge swings

Problem description: The pressure gauge pointer frequently swings during equipment operation, resulting in inaccurate reading of pressure values.

Solutions:

Check the oil circuit: Confirm if the oil level in the tank is too low or if air is mixed in, causing unstable oil pressure. Timely replenish hydraulic oil and ensure good sealing of the oil system.

Cleaning the oil filter: Blockage of the oil filter may cause poor oil flow and affect pressure stability. Regularly clean or replace the oil filter to keep the oil clean.

Adjusting the relief valve: Improper or damaged relief valve settings may also cause the pressure gauge pointer to swing. Adjust the relief valve to the appropriate pressure, or replace the damaged relief valve.


3. Slow high-voltage travel speed

Problem description: The hydraulic press slows down during high-pressure stroke, affecting production efficiency.

Solutions:

Check the oil pump: Decreased or damaged oil pump performance may result in insufficient oil supply, affecting the high-pressure stroke speed. Check the performance of the oil pump and replace damaged oil pumps in a timely manner.

Adjusting the overflow valve: Setting the pressure of the overflow valve too low may result in insufficient oil pressure during the high-pressure stroke, thereby slowing down the speed. Adjust the overflow valve to the appropriate pressure.

Cleaning the fuel tank and oil pipes: Impurities in the fuel tank and oil pipes may cause poor oil flow and affect the high-pressure stroke speed. Regularly clean the fuel tank and oil pipes to keep the oil clean.


4. Handling of Action Failure

Problem description: The hydraulic press malfunctions during operation and cannot work according to the predetermined program.

Solutions:

Check the electrical system: Electrical system failures may cause malfunction in operation. Check the electrical circuits, switches, and controllers to ensure the normal operation of the electrical system.

Check the hydraulic valve: Damage or blockage of the hydraulic valve may cause malfunction. Check and replace damaged hydraulic valves to keep them unobstructed.

Adjusting hydraulic system parameters: Improper setting of hydraulic system parameters may also lead to operational failure. Adjust the hydraulic system parameters according to the equipment manual to ensure the normal operation of the equipment.


5. The slider slides down severely

Problem description: The slider experiences severe downward movement after stopping or unloading, which affects the accuracy and safety of the equipment.

Solutions:

Check the locking device: Damaged or loose locking device may cause the slider to slide down. Check and tighten the locking device to ensure the stability of the slider.

Adjusting the overflow valve: Improper setting of the overflow valve may also cause the slider to slide down. Adjust the overflow valve to the appropriate pressure to ensure that the slider remains stable during shutdown or unloading.

Check the accumulator: Decreased or damaged accumulator performance may cause the slider to slide down. Check the performance of the accumulator and replace damaged ones in a timely manner.


6. The pressure drop during holding is too fast

Problem description: The hydraulic press experiences a rapid pressure drop during the holding process, which affects machining accuracy and product quality.

Solutions:

Check the seals: Aging or damage to the seals may cause pressure leakage and accelerate the pressure drop rate. Replace aging or damaged seals to ensure good sealing.

Check the hydraulic cylinder: Wear or strain on the inner wall of the hydraulic cylinder may cause pressure leakage. Check the condition of the inner wall of the hydraulic cylinder and promptly repair or replace severely worn hydraulic cylinders.

Adjusting the overflow valve: Improper setting of the overflow valve may also lead to rapid pressure drop during pressure maintenance. Adjust the overflow valve to the appropriate pressure to ensure stable pressure during the holding process.


7. Axial piston pump malfunction

Problem description: The axial piston pump experiences malfunctions such as abnormal noise, insufficient pressure, or leakage during operation.

Solutions:

Check bearings: Damaged bearings may cause abnormal noise and insufficient pressure. Check the condition of the bearings and replace damaged bearings in a timely manner.

Cleaning the pump body: Impurities inside the pump body may cause leakage and performance degradation. Regularly clean the pump body to maintain internal cleanliness.

Adjusting plunger clearance: Excessive or insufficient plunger clearance may lead to performance degradation. Adjust the plunger clearance to the appropriate range according to the equipment manual.

Replace worn parts: Parts with severe wear inside the pump, such as plungers and distribution plates, should be replaced in a timely manner to ensure the normal operation of the pump.
