Hydraulic Extrusion Press

Bi-directional axle extruder- For the manufacture of high-end axles

In the field of high-end axle manufacturing, precision and efficiency are constant pursuits. Bidirectional extrusion technology, as a revolutionary metal forming process, is fundamentally changing the production of symmetrical long-axis parts such as axles with its unique working principle and superior performance. Unlike traditional unidirectional extrusion or forging processes, bidirectional extrusion machines achieve simultaneous and symmetrical metal flow from the center outwards, bringing about a qualitative leap in the manufacturing of core structural components.

A bidirectional extrusion machine is an advanced hydraulic forming equipment used for producing symmetrical shaft-like parts (especially axles). Its core design features powerful, synchronized hydraulic rams positioned at both ends of the machine. During operation, a heated metal billet is placed in the central mold cavity, and the rams at both ends, under computer control, simultaneously apply pressure towards the center with extremely high synchronization accuracy. Under the uniform pressure from both ends, the metal material is extruded simultaneously from the pre-existing holes in the center of the mold to both sides, forming a complete axle blank with continuous fiber flow in a single operation.

Key Advantages:

lSuperior Mechanical Performance: Metal fibers are continuously and symmetrically distributed from the axis center to both ends, eliminating welds or flow line discontinuities that can occur in traditional forging. This improves the fatigue strength, toughness, and overall consistency of the finished product by more than 30%.

lExtremely High Material Utilization: Near-net-shape forming technology significantly reduces subsequent machining allowances, resulting in material utilization rates of over 95%, significantly reducing steel consumption and processing costs.

lExcellent Production Efficiency: The shaft body is formed in a single operation, resulting in a fast production cycle.  Efficiency is increased by an average of 50%-200% compared to multi-pass forging or long-shaft turning.

lOutstanding Dimensional Accuracy and Consistency: Hydraulic servo closed-loop control ensures extreme symmetry of the extruded length and diameter at both ends, with precise tolerance control, laying the foundation for subsequent automated processing.

lFlexible Production Adaptability: By changing molds, one piece of equipment can produce various axles for trucks, buses, construction machinery, etc., with different lengths, steps, and flange shapes, enabling rapid production changeovers.

Main Applications

lHigh-strength axles produced by twin-screw extruders are primarily used in applications requiring extremely high levels of safety and reliability:

lCommercial vehicle sector: Drive axles and non-drive axles for heavy trucks, long-distance buses, and public transport buses.

lConstruction machinery sector: High-load axles for heavy equipment such as excavators, loaders, cranes, and mining dump trucks.

lSpecial vehicle sector: Axle systems for special vehicles such as military vehicles, fire trucks, and oilfield-specific vehicles.

lHigh-end passenger vehicle sector: Drive half-shafts for some high-performance cars and SUVs.
